Fisker Reports that the “KARMA” Emissions and Fuel Economy to be Among World’s Best

The Fisker Karma will emit just 83g CO2/km and have an economy rating of 3.5L/100km, according to SAE methodology measuring emissions for plug-in hybrids. Making its German debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this month, the four-door Karma will be one of the cleanest, most fuelefficient cars in the world, but will still offer world-class style and performance.

Calculations developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) estimate carbon dioxide output will be less than that of today’s cleanest production cars and 75 percent less than that of competing vehicles, on average. SAE is an internationally recognized organization of experts that help drive government automotive policy.

Some 941 million liters (248 million gallons) of gasoline could be saved and 2.3 million metric tons (2.5 million US tons) of CO2 offset from sales of 15,000 Karmas per year through 2016. Still, with 403hp and more torque than many supercars, 0-100km/h (62mph) takes about six seconds and maximum speed is 201km/h (125mph).

This KARMA is one beautiful car!

Now I need to be critical of Fisker itself…
Not because of it’s operation or design, but of the fact it was outsourced to the lowest bidder for manufacturing. They probably did great work and it will last 10 years or so as a great roadworthy machine.

The issue is taking an American based company’s vehicle and sending it overseas for mfg. it just hurts my feelings and all.

The team at Fisker was given too much money to simply design and send out this beautiful car to Taiwan and China for production. America would feel so much better and the world so much more confident if you had it built in the USA under a non-union (ie. non-corrupt and cost ineffective) workforce.

Perhaps you smart folks at Fiskers know something about profit that I don’t… But American’s certainly cannot buy from Fisker, Ford, Chrysler, GM (shudder), etc if they do not have decent jobs here in the USA.

MFG HINT: The KARMA may come back to bite you!
